TIDBITS about David from David

I am now in my fifth decade of amassing experiences, stories and memories. Although some of the latter are a bit fuzzy, there is still much to share. A smattering are presented here. I ...

  • am working everyday to live my values, find the balance and serve others.
  • have been married to a beautiful, passionate and patient woman (whom I met in Sunday school when I was 11!) for 18 years.
  • am blessed to have four generations of family alive and in my life.
  • was born in Philadelphia but am from Atlanta.
  • am a proud father of 3, godfather for 2, uncle to 7 and Uncle David to a flock of ‘adopted’ kids.
  • caused a singing/vocal coach to retire.
  • was married on a leap day (and, yes, we still celebrate every year).
  • have been called Uncle Jungle Gym, UD, and something unpronounceable by my niece, Dena.
  • spent three college years in Mask & Wig – U Penn’s century+ old all male musical comedy group (writing & laboring back stage, of course).
  • believe that marriage is the hardest (& most fulfilling) work you’ll do every day.
  • cook as therapy (I make a mean seared tuna with enoki mushrooms).
  • am a ‘Damned Yankee’ (a term Native Atlantans use for someone that moves to Atlanta and stays – even after 39 years!).
  • collect – and enjoy – wine.
  • have been a proud member of Vistage International since 2004.
  • have a punishing sense of humor.
  • will travel anywhere with beautiful scenery (Iceland & Costa Rica win thusfar) and rich history (Israel & Italy take this category).
  • spent 5 days riding a bike 345 miles from Jerusalem to the Red Sea.
  • love long, steep hills (on a bike).
  • learned to ski at 27 and am comfortable with how ridiculous I look in ski clothes!
  • was a state coordinator for a winning Presidential campaign (and promptly retired from national politics).
  • fought City Hall (actually, the Tax Commissioner) ... and won!
  • live gluten-free.
  • taught my mother to drive a stick-shift... and both of us survived.
  • have limitless energy.
  • leave chocolate for those more appreciative.
  • will add to this list as the muse speaks to me...
